Home A Literacy Journey in 20 Programs Survival Skills for the 21st Century Broadcast Schedule Order Form Lifelong Learning Links

Our world gets more complex everyday, with new technologies and more information than ever before. Many of us struggle just to keep up.
These 20 programs include dozens of success stories by adult learners who, in pursuing a new literacy:
  • have achieved personal, educational and employment goals
  • have found unexpected benefits like making new friends, developing confidence to go on to further study, discovering or creating a new job
  • have overcome personal challenges like admitting and confronting learning difficulties, first day nerves and the fear that every other student would know more than them
  • have found support, enthusiasm, care and interest from family and friends, tutors and lecturers from Neighbourhood Houses, Community Centres, private organisations, adult re-entry schools, TAFE and Universities
Apparently, it doesn’t matter what our background is, how little or how much education we have, or how old we are. We can (and should) continue to learn something new throughout our lives. Well…I never knew that! What I do know is that I’m grateful to every participant and Reference Group member for willingly giving your time, knowledge, experiences and support – it is greatly appreciated!

Today we no longer talk about a single literacy; we talk about the many and varied literacies in the world around us. We all need to learn continuously throughout our lives to understand the different “languages” developing in every field, from finances to mechanics to health and beyond. I love these programs; their engaging stories embrace the broad spectrum of “literacies”, and provide inspiration to encourage all Australians to “have a go” at lifelong learning.
